Pediatric Intensive Care Units

Intensive Care for Pediatric Patients

When older children have serious medical conditions or illnesses, they may be admitted to a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). Sometimes a child’s condition requires more focused attention, such as children with severe breathing problems, serious infections, certain heart conditions, complications of diabetes, car accident victims, near drowning survivors, head or brain injury patients and those with pediatric cancer, lupus, sickle cell anemia or another blood disorder.

Our PICUs are designed and staffed to care for the most critically ill children and to provide the most comprehensive pediatric services. Our PICUs are focused on providing the best clinical care possible while promoting an emotionally supportive environment for the entire family. You can feel confident your child will receive the best medical care required.
