Patients & Parents

Welcome to Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital. We are happy you have chosen our hospital for your child's medical needs. We would like to make your visit as comfortable and pleasant as possible.

Ensuring Your Child's Comfort

Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital employs nine Child Life Specialists who are specifically trained to work with children to help them understand their hospital stay and to make the hospital a friendly place. We are the only hospital in Baton Rouge with a Child Life Department.

For Parents

Let us help you prepare your child for a trip to the hospital.

Visiting Hours

Family support is important to the healing process of the patient and we welcome visitors. Please keep in mind the patient's need for rest, quiet and privacy. Because visiting can be tiring to the patient, we ask that friends and relatives follow these visitation guidelines.

  • Some individual units may have visiting hours. Please ask your nurse if there are visiting hours specific to that unit.
  • Patients are susceptible to contagious illnesses, so persons with colds, sore throats or other contagious illnesses should not visit.
  • For the comfort of other patients, we ask that visitors speak quietly.  Please respect all "no visitor" and "isolation" signs. These signs have been ordered by the attending physician for the patient's benefit.
