Our Curriculum: A Unique and Innovative Approach to Pediatrics
The Pediatric Residency Program at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center (OLOLRMC) offers our residents a unique and innovative curriculum focusing on the six Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Competencies and the Institute of Medicine's six Dimensions of Quality. Our Residents will be trained to focus on how these competencies and Dimensions of Quality are interrelated at the level of every patient.
In doing so, at the end of our three year, well-rounded pediatric residency program, you will be an expert in three key aspects of pediatric medicine and equipped with the tools necessary to succeed at any level in your career:
- Identifying and Implementing Best Practice Processes to Improve Outcomes of Care
- Understanding the "Art" of Medicine: how to apply a "bio-psychosocial" approach to the management of each patient
- Recognizing how to leverage Information Technology and fundamental Quality Improvement tools to continually improve the delivery of patient care
- Patient Care
- Medical Knowledge and Skills: "What Must We Know?"
- Interpersonal Communication Skills: "What Must We Say?"
