State Honors OLOL Children’s Hospital Emergency Room with First Gold Bear Award for Pediatric Emergency Services
Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital Emergency Department has earned Gold Bear Designation from Louisiana Emergency Services for Children and the Emergency Medical Services for Children’s Governor’s Council – a part of the Department of Health and Hospitals Bureau of Emergency Medical Services. This is the first Gold Bear Designation in the state.
Gold Bear Designation recognizes Emergency Departments dedicated to excellent care of sick or injured infants and children. To earn this recognition OLOL Children’s Hospital Emergency Departments meets the following criteria:
Physicians are Board Certified in Pediatrics or Emergency Medicine and at least one physician has additional specialty training in pediatric emergency medicine.
Physicians maintain current Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification.
An Emergency Department Physician is designated as a coordinator for pediatric care.
An Emergency Department Nurse is designated as a coordinator for pediatric care.
The Emergency Department has a specific safety program for pediatric care.
The Emergency Department has specific pediatric medical equipment to meet the unique needs of infants and children.
The OLOL Pediatric Intensive Care Unit is staffed by physicians with specialty training in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, Pediatric Pulmonology or Pediatric Anesthesia.
