Hematology is the branch of medical science concerned with diseases of the blood and blood-forming tissues, such as hemophilia, lymphoma and leukemia.
A medical oncologist is a doctor who specializes in diagnosing and treating cancer using chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, biological therapy and targeted therapy. A medical oncologist often is the main healthcare provider for someone who has cancer. A medical oncologist also gives supportive care and may coordinate treatment given by other specialists.
Our Lady of the Lake has several skilled hematology and oncology experts right here so children can receive the care they need close to home.
