About Our Facilities
Our Lady of the Lake conducts more surgery than any other hospital in the state of Louisiana. Surgery services are available on an inpatient or outpatient basis.
Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital has dedicated pediatric operating rooms and dedicated pediatric recovery rooms. After surgery, parents are invited to wait with their child in the recovery room.

Pre-Surgery Testing and Consultation
At Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital, we do our best to alleviate as much tension for our young patients as possible. When we inform a child and family that a surgery will be needed, we try to schedule pre-surgery consults for the very same day. Appointments are not necessary. Your child will also meet with a member of the surgical department in scrubs so he/she will become familiar and comfortable in a surgical environment.
For your convenience the Pre-Admission and Registration Center (PARC) is open Monday through Friday, 8 am until 5 pm.
At this visit you will:
- Complete any lab work and diagnostic testing
- Update your child's current medical history
- Receive education about your child's procedure
- Discuss any discharge needs with the nurse
- Have an opportunity to ask questions and discuss any concerns
- Begin the registration process
Pre-Registration and Certification
If you are unable to visit the PARC, our admissions staff will attempt to contact you by phone regarding your child's admission to the hospital and to verify insurance coverage. If you do not have insurance our staff is available to assist you. The Admissions Department can be reached at (225) 765-8899.
